THE FIRST CAMBODIAN FULL MARATHON

Siem Reap and the Temples of Angkor will play host to the 1st Angkor Empire Marathon to be run in Cambodia on 17 August 2014. The race will be an internationally recognised charity event for the relief of victims of land mines in Cambodia. A large number of international participants are expected at this race with the unique backdrop of ancient temples.

Besides the full marathon (42.195 km or 26 miles and 385 yards!) there will also be a half marathon, 10km race and a 3km option for families. Early registration and hotel bookings are recommended. Full details of the marathon can be seen at http://www.angkorempiremarathon.org

The course begins in front of Angkor Wat before meandering around the Royal Bathing Pool of Sra Srang, Banteay Samre temple, Grand Circuit Temples, entering the walled city of Angkor Thom, around the Bayon Temple and then finishing at Angkor Wat.

If the date does not match, the annual Angkor Wat Half Marathon will be held on 7 December 2014 in Siem Reap. The race is now in its 19th year. There are further options with half marathons in Sihanoukville on 9 March, Phnom Penh on 15 June and Bokor Mountain on 9 November this year.
